HKBU's response concerning matters related to an employee of the cleaning service contractor:
Regarding recent media reports concerning matters related to an employee of the cleaning service contractor of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), the University has taken immediate action after it learnt about the case last Thursday (30 October) and demanded the contractor to provide details of the situation. At the same time, the University urged the contractor to propose appropriate solutions to handle the case properly, and requested the contractor to improve communication with its employees.
HKBU reiterates that the University is highly concerned about the case. The University has instructed the contractor to follow up immediately and discuss feasible solutions such as reallocation of job duties with the staff concerned as soon as possible. HKBU puts strong emphasis on the corporate social responsibility, service quality and professional performance of its contractors, and has a stringent control mechanism in place. The University is looking into the details of the case, and stern action will be taken according to the established mechanism if it is discovered that the contractor has failed to act appropriately or meet relevant standards.
