HKBU congratulates Cheung Ka-long on winning bronze medal in Men’s Foil Individual at National Games

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) congratulates Cheung Ka-long, a member of the Fencing Team of Hong Kong, China, for winning the bronze medal in the Men’s Foil Individual event at the 15th National Games today (16 November).
Professor Alex Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Cheung Ka-long: “Our Nation’s athletes are at the forefront of the world competitions with their top-tier performance, and the National Games represent the highest-level and the largest-scale multi-sport event of the Nation. While pursuing his studies at HKBU, Ka-long has also undergone rigorous professional training at the same time. His return to the National Games podium following his success in 2017 demonstrates his world-class prowess. The entire HKBU community takes immense pride in his outstanding performance and remarkable achievement at this year’s event.”
“HKBU student athletes have shown tremendous dedication and excellent performances at this year’s event. So far, in addition to Ka-long, Chan Sakurako has won a gold medal in the Women’s Team Kata (Amateurs) event, while Chiu Chun-yin has secured silver in the Men’s Team Kata (Amateurs) event at the mass participation karate competition. We are proud of their achievements. HKBU remains committed to supporting our student athletes in pursuing excellence in both academics and sports, empowering them to shine continuously in a bigger arena.”
Cheung Ka-long and Chiu Chun-yin were awarded a scholarship under HKBU’s Talented Athletes Direct Admission Scheme, and are currently studying the Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Recreation Management programme. Chan Sakurako is studying the Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television programme under the Academy of Film.
